Our Mission

We believe that bat species throughout the world should be valued for their ecological, and environmental importance and services.

We believe wildlife rehabilitation is a vital service that should be available to everyone. Education and dispelling common misconceptions is essential to the conservation and protection of bat species.

Board of Directors

Stephanie Stronsick- Founder/President

Steph volunteered at Project Wildlife based in San Diego, California. There she helped initiate rescuing bats as part of their protocol. Soon after, Steph began volunteering at the San Diego Natural History Museum as a collection data analyst for the San Diego Mammals Atlas, preservation of bat specimens, and field assistant. After relocating to her home state of Pennsylvania, she worked as an associate field biologist for Bat Conservation and Management. In 2012 she began establishing Pennsylvania Bat Rescue. She earned a bachelor’s degree in environmental science with a dual major in biology. Steph continues to combine her dedication to conservation and research in her efforts to help bats.

Eric Morlock- Vice President

Eric has been part of our rescue efforts for several years. As director of release, he assures that each bat has the extended flight and forage capability essential for their survival. Eric also aids in the rescue of distressed bats and participates in educational programs. He has a love for the out doors and eclectic music.

Laura Muller- Board Chair

Laura is passionate about veterinary medicine, One Health, grassroots conservation, and connecting the next generation to nature. A hopeless optimist, she believes that everyone has the power to make a positive impact for wildlife in their own backyard. Laura has been in veterinary medicine for over 20 years and works as a licensed veterinary technician in Philadelphia. Outside of work she spends as much time as possible surrounded by her growing family, books, and nature in an urban landscape

Heidi Scarano- Fundraising Coordinator

Heidi volunteers as the Fundraising Director for the PA Bat Conservation and Rehabilitation Center. She is a mom, science teacher, tutor and author of children’s books. In her spare time, she likes to be outdoors – taking hikes, snorkeling or brushing up on her photography hobby.

Adrienne Breaux- Director

Dr. Adrienne Breaux is a veterinarian with Dublin Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Breaux attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for her undergraduate degree and went on to receive her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from North Carolina State University in 2014. She is Fear Free Certified and has a professional interest in feline pediatrics and geriatrics, reptile and amphibian medicine/surgery, wildlife medicine, and ophthalmology. Dr. Breaux began working in the veterinary field in 2003, where she worked in shelter medicine. She eventually went on to work in a feline-only facility as an assistant before attending veterinary school. Dr. Breaux was inspired to make veterinary medicine her career from all the kill shelters in her area, she wanted to be able to do more to aid the animals around her. Dr. Breaux grew up in North Carolina but has been living in Pennsylvania for the past eight years. She lives with all her rescue pets, including her Chihuahua named Pip, her cat named Kitten, and her Eastern Box Turtle named Beatrice. Dr. Breaux loves to hike, read, and look for wildlife outside of work, but she is most passionate about attending local events and getting involved in the community!

Damon Vukovish- Director

Damon Vukovich is a husband, father, and the owner of Bat Removal Specialists, a humane bat exclusion company based in Southeastern Pennsylvania. Family is at the center of Damon’s life and deeply shapes the way he approaches his work, relationships, and conservation efforts. Through Bat Removal Specialists, Damon works closely with wildlife rehabilitators and conservation organizations across the region to safely remove bats from structures while protecting both homeowners and local bat populations. His work focuses on long-term exclusion methods, bat-safe building modifications, and public education surrounding the ecological importance of bats. In addition to field work, Damon is actively involved in conservation efforts including bat house installation, orphaned bat support, and helping advance more humane, research-based standards for bat handling and exclusion practices in Pennsylvania.

Ann Traweek- Secretary

Ann holds a degree in Accounting & International Business from Penn State University and has been fascinated by bats since childhood. Her passion for wildlife grew through naturalist training and volunteering with Newport Bay Conservancy in California. After returning to Pennsylvania in 2021, she began volunteering with Pennsylvania Bat Conservation and Rehabilitation, where she is thrilled to work closely with bats and contribute to their care and conservation. Ann serves as the organization’s Secretary and Fruit Bat Caretaker, in addition to continuing to volunteer with the PA native bat species. Ann lives in Lehigh Valley, PA, with her husband, two children, a cat, and two dogs.

Assistant Rehabilitators

George Bates

George grew up on a dairy farm and graduated from Kansas State University in 1974. He completed residencies in infectious diseases, large animal medicine and surgery, and zoo animal medicine, then worked in large and mixed animal practices throughout the western United States. George later taught in the veterinary technology program at Wilson College for 20 years before retiring. In retirement, he primarily cares for cats and native wildlife.

Sharon Agresta-Siekerman

Sharon grew up in Lebanon County surrounded by dairy farms and farmland, where she developed a lifelong passion for wildlife and conservation. An original “Earth Day kid,” she has always been committed to educating others about protecting the environment and the animals that call it home. During her career as a police officer, Sharon often encountered conflicts between suburban development and displaced wildlife, inspiring her to become more involved in wildlife advocacy. In 2008, she became a Master Gardener and learned about the devastating impact of White-Nose Syndrome on bat populations. Since then, she has dedicated herself to educating the public about the important role bats play in natural pest control and to dispelling common myths about these remarkable mammals. Today, Sharon serves PBCR in many roles, including transporter, “bat EMT,” winter foster caregiver, and outreach educator.
