Help Save Our Bats
Pennsylvania is home to eleven different species of bats, each contributing to our ecosystem in a different way. Whether it’s reducing the surplus population of mosquitos or other insects, or populating a forest with new fruit trees, our bats are a much needed part of our environment.
Bats are also one of the more misunderstood animals in our world as well. Many see bats as a threat – mainly due to the cinematic portrayal of the bat as a dark, bloodsucking creature of the night, but, unless you’re an insect or a piece of fruit, most bats are not interested in you as a food source.
Pennsylvania’s bat population, however is increasingly threatened by several issues, including white nose syndrome and a constant loss of habitat, often endangering the lives of our bats.
The Pennsylvania Bat Rescue and Rehabilitation Center provides rescue and rehabilitation support for bats which have been impacted or injured. Our staff and volunteers understand the importance of wildlife rehabilitation and have committed much of their lives to helping re-introduce our bats back into the wild.
